When I was born, I had what is called PDA. It is a hole in the chamber of the heart, that usually closes after birth. Eleven years later an echocardiogram indicated that the PDA had not closed. It was then decided that I would have to have open heart surgery. Looking back, I realize having to undergo heart surgery was a difficult time in my life, but it has helped me understand that God has a plan for my life. I am learning everyday that troubles are only the formulas that arise to strengthen and mold our characters. Therefore we will become effective healthcare workers. Time after time God has allowed me to turn bad situations into learning experiences. We will encounter people in the work place who are in various circumstances, but it is not our job to judge them, neither is it our job to treat them differently as a result of the decisions they’ve made. As a nurse, I will use my testimony to encourage patients who may be going through similar circumstances as well. Our main purpose as nurses are to heal and strengthen patients, leaving them with hope for tomorrow.
