"...when situations seemed bleak, my mom showed great courage and care to those around her..."
Bealie Lucero, General Studies Student
TranscriptWhen people say children learn by example, all my positive qualities are attributed to one person. From a young age my family's experiences could closely relate to scenes from a soap opera. But when situations seemed bleak, my mom showed great courage and care to those around her, that then affected me. Even outside her job as being a nurse in the hospital, her personal life also exuded the compassion and faith that would optimize a nurse. Through living these experience and viewing my mom's character, it has led to my decision of becoming a nurse just like her. A decision that expresses my philosophy of healthcare of having a lifestyle that demonstrates Christ's healing touch. And also to live the true meaning of god living through us, that looks beyond a person's appearance and understanding their backstory that comes with their brokenness. The acceptance that everyone is or will become broken is a truth that must me grasped, and I could only know that truth from my own brokenness.
