"...our job is to care for the brokenness of this world."
Ernest Johnson, Nursing Student
TranscriptMy philosophy of healthcare is that, as aspiring healthcare professionals, our job is to care for the brokenness of this world. Everyone is broken, being it mentally, physically, or spiritually. It is the decisions we make and the experiences we have that make us who we are today. As healthcare professionals we are to provide patient centered care and assist them to obtain their maximum state of wellness even if that means helping them die peacefully. God created us with such complexity and magnificence that our bodies are able of preforming phenomenal feats. In Psalms 139:14 it says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” When caring for patients, always remember that we are all human beings. And we must respect and care for one another not matter what the problem, no matter what the conflict, no matter what the disease. Every time I go to clinical, I bring with me my organizing principles that I believe help me to be the best healthcare provider that I can be. They are encouragement, service, and a smile. Having been a patient before, it was a blessing to have a nurse who had those three things. That is what I would always like to be able to give to my patients, as well as anyone I come in contact with. This is my philosophy of healthcare.
