I have come to view healthcare largely through the eyes of my daughters, who both graduated from Florida Hospital College BSN program several years ago. On occasion, they have shared with me the challenges, and sometimes, the tragic circumstances their patients are dealing with. My heart has been warmed as I hear them tell of the times they’ve shared a word of encouragement or a prayer with someone who is dealing with one of life’s most difficult experiences. At that moment, they are doing the work that is closest to the heart of Jesus. It is in those acts of care and compassion that ministry really happens. I am thankful that these principles are being taught here at our college as a fundamental core as to why we exist as an institution. Healthcare as ministry is not just a slogan; it is lived out daily in the lives of our graduates.
