My brokenness is when my mom passed away a couple years ago. She had suffered from a massive stroke, two thirds of her brain was removed due to a massive hemorrhage. She was in a coma for several months. She was left incapacitated and in a vegetative condition. Her prognosis was that she would not have any chance of quality life. My mom fought her illness for several months. She lived in a vegetative state and then passed away in her sleep. My mom went home to be with God. As a healthcare professional I strive to both health and cure our patient, however, there are cases when one person could not be cured but not healed and others can be healed but not cured. My mom was healed, but could not be cured. My philosophy of healthcare is to serve God through humanities. Being a child of God my healthcare value is to provide medical care through love, hope, faith, and compassion to my patients, help to cure them of illness and ease their pain as they go through the process of healing. My medical knowledge and training that I will learn while I’m in school will help me to develop into a nurse that supports these values.
