My philosophy of healthcare is to treat every person as a valued individual. I want to help ease their suffering. If that is not possible, my goal is to carry them through the darkness and difficulties and to help them see the light at the end. As a volunteer I had the privilege of interacting with a little girl in the NICU that was very sick and was not expected to live longer than a few months. Her parents could not face being there so she was alone. I was amazed by the love this little girl received from the nurses and therapists. They took it upon themselves to make sure this precious gift from God was surrounded by "family" even if it wasn't her biological family. They went beyond curing and began to heal.
