As a young girl, I grew up in the hospital facing many obstacles when it came to my health and wellbeing. As a patient, I understood what it felt like to need my caregiver’s full attention and understanding. I was filled with a great amount of emotions and uncertainty. Based on my experience as a patient filled with needs, I am able to become a better healthcare provider for my future patients. Realizing the most important aspects in caring for a patient is treating them with compassion, understanding, and as human beings. I strongly feel healthcare providers should build a relationship upon understanding, therapeutic communication and faith when caring for their patients. Diagnosing your patient is only a small part of the process when caring for them. The value of a patient is beyond a person who is sick and filled with needs, but rather viewed and cared for as a child of God
