How long is the MOT program?
  • This program is 7 trimesters which is 27 months long. The last 6 months of the program are spent in full-time internship.
Will I be able to take classes and work?
  • Classes will be during the daytime Monday-Friday. Although some students are able to work part-time while attending an MOT program, it is recommended that students not work more than 20 hours per week due to the rigor of the program.
Will classes be online?
  • Classes will have online and on-campus components. Students will need internet and computer access for this program.
Is this a bridge program for OTAs (occupational therapy assistants)?
  • This is not a bridge program for OTAs to become OTs. It is an entry-level master's degree open to individuals who meet admission criteria.
Will there be clinical/fieldwork experiences?
  • The program will have many clinical fieldwork opportunities. There will be 6 Level I rotations that are 1 week in length. Following classroom-based courses, each student will complete two 3-month internships.
Will I be able to do my fieldwork outside of Orlando?
  • Internships for OTs can be either in the Central Florida area or out of town. Students who wish to complete out of town rotations will work with the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator to arrange these out of town experiences. Students are responsible for transportation during the program regardless of where their fieldwork is located.
What is the job outlook for OTs?
  • The job outlook for OTs continues to be strong. The US Department of Labor lists OT as a career with an employment outlook of much faster growth than average. Average annual salaries range from $55,000-$81,000 per year depending upon the area of the country and the type of setting. Is this a program for OTs who have a Bachelor's degree?
  • No, this is not a post-professional degree in OT.
What type of Bachelor's degree is required?
  • Students with a Bachelor's degree in any field may apply to the program. Please refer to the admission criteria and pre-requisites listed.
